What it takes off your hands
HWP is a closed format used only in Korea. Hand a .hwp straight to ChatGPT or Claude and it often cannot read it, or the tables and formatting come apart. General-purpose converters leave the format alone.
PDF fails differently. Uploaded as it is, the model reads each page as an image too — the same content costs several times the tokens.
So the original stays as it is, and only the part the model has to read is pulled out as Markdown.
What it can do

Korean documents come out as Markdown with headings, lists and tables still standing. Hancom Office is not needed.
PDF → Markdown
Tuned for PDFs that carry real text. Pages are marked as they are extracted, so you can tell where a paragraph came from.
Choose how tables travel
Automatic (HTML only for merged cells), Markdown tables only, or HTML tables only. On table-heavy documents this is what decides the result.
Images inside the document
Pictures embedded in the document are pulled out too and come down as a zip.
Eight languages
The interface runs in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, German, Spanish, French and Russian.
How it goes
- Drop the file into the converter. It starts on its own.
- Copy the Markdown, or download it as a .md file. If the document held images they come along as a zip.
- Paste it into the chat, or upload the .md file.
Where the file goes
Nowhere. The conversion runs inside the browser through WebAssembly and the file is never uploaded. An official document or a contract stays on your machine.
Honest limits
- When the look of the page is the content — charts, diagrams, scans — Markdown cannot carry all of it. For those, handing the original to the model may work better.
- The formats it opens today are HWP, HWPX and PDF.
Common questions
- Can I just upload the .hwp to ChatGPT?
- You can, but it often cannot read it properly, or the tables come apart. It is a closed format used only in Korea.
- Do I need Hancom Office?
- No. A browser is enough.
- Does the file get uploaded?
- It does not. The conversion finishes inside the browser, which also means we cannot know which file you opened.
